Religious Education at Parkside Academy

At Parkside Academy, Religious Education (RE) plays a vital role in nurturing respectful, reflective and open-minded citizens. Through an engaging curriculum, pupils develop their understanding of different religions and worldviews, while building the confidence to share their own ideas and listen thoughtfully to others.

We use the RE Today curriculum, which follows an enquiry-based approach. Pupils explore questions about beliefs, practices and values, helping them understand how religion and worldviews influence people’s lives. Across the school, they learn about Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism, as well as non-religious worldviews. Their learning includes topics such as festivals and family life, worship, creation, justice and how people find support during difficult times. In the Early Years, children begin to explore beliefs and celebrations through play, stories and learning about their community.

Visits and visitors enrich learning, helping pupils connect what they learn in the classroom with the beliefs and practices of people in the wider community. By the time they leave Parkside Academy, pupils will have developed a broad understanding of different beliefs and worldviews, and the empathy to value the views and experiences of others.
